2025-2026 Graduate Entry Level Placement in English (Grad ELPE)
Graduate Students
The Fall Grad ELPE for new graduate students will take place on August 29, 2025. The Grad ELPE will take place online. The Fall Grad ELPE placement process is complete.

Note: The make-up Grad ELPE placement process will be held in person only on December 8th (oral) and December 9th (written). If you missed the Fall Grad ELPE placement, please monitor your email for more information from the Grad ELPE Committee.
Some international graduate students are exempt from having to take the Grad ELPE (for example, students who completed all years of an undergraduate degree at an approved English medium institution). Exemptions are determined by the Graduate Division and are made available to the EMS Program prior to the Grad ELPE date.
Prospective Teaching Assistants
ITA English Language Evaluations are required of all international students whose home language is other than English who are offered a TAship for the first time. These evaluations are arranged for students at the request of the student’s home department.
Please note – there are no exemptions to the ITA English Language Evaluation.
